Weekend Browsing | Bedroom Inspiration

Project flip our bedroom is underway. Whit and I have been wanting to redo our master bedroom for quite some time now. It's one of the spaces in our house that we just haven't put much focus on, but now is the time. We moved into our home three years ago and have been slowly decorating each room. It feels like it's taking forever to get things just right. I don't know that we will ever not have a list of things we would like to do, but we are having fun in the meantime.

This past weekend we set out to find things for our bedroom. We were unsuccessful in that department, but we did find some pretty things for our coffee table. We also found some Euro pillows for our guest bedroom, so I considered it to be a successful trip. But getting back to the bedroom, we are on a mission to find a King size headboard, mattress, new furniture, lamps, rug and pictures for the wall. The only thing that we have checked off our list is curtains. We have quite the challenge ahead of us, but we are taking it slowly to ensure we get exactly what we are looking for. 

I'm looking forward to the day I will be able to post a before and after photo, but in the meantime I thought it would be fun to share my inspiration board. I love all the bright whites and neutrals.  If any of you have any good recommendations on where to find more pieces like the ones below, specifically headboards since that is number one on the list, please share!

Outdoor Summer Essentials

There's nothing I love more than sitting outside on my back deck in the summer, a cold glass of white wine in hand, nibbling on appetizers, all while embracing the golden hour. There's just something so relaxing about watching the sun go down after a long day. I've mentioned before that there are several things that I would like to add to our deck as far as decor is concerned.  So, I decided to make wish list filled with outdoor essentials perfect for summer. Cookbook Craze | 10 Pretty, Delicious Cookbooks

Nothing fills a bookshelf or a coffee table better than a big stack of thick, colorful, hardcover books. Cook books in particular are my favorite. They look great on a shelf and are the perfect reference for a home cooked meal. I've collected quite a few over the year, but only a select few are on display. Below are a few of my favorites as well as a few that are on my wish list!

1. Cravings: Recipes for All the Food You Want to Eat

I mean who doesn't want to find out more about what this super model whips up in the kitchen?!

2. The Love and Lemons Cook Book

This cook book is so colorful and pretty. I'm definitely adding it to my collection soon. 

3. Posh Toast

Because who doesn't want a book filled with over 70 different ways to dress up your toast. 

4. Summer Cocktails

A book like this is a necessity for summer entertaining. 

5. The Skinny Taste 

If the name doesn't draw you in, the shrimp and grits on the cover sure will!

6. Grilled Cheese Kitchen

A book filled with recipes to make a grilled cheese that much more enticing. 

7. Salad of the Day

Sometimes a little inspiration is needed in order to make lettuce exciting. 

8. Crave: The Feast of the Five Senses-10th Anniversary Edition

I was fortune enough to meet the chef behind this refreshing cookbook.

9. Appetizers

All good parties begin with these.

Cocktails associated with the chic stars of Hollywood. How can you resist?

Arhaus | Grand Opening in Charleston

Last month the Charleston Blog Society hosted an event at Arhaus, a home furnishings store that just opened a new location in Mt. Pleasant. I had never heard of them before, but I'm sure glad they are now on my radar. Their selection of handcrafted home furnishings each have a story. Free Standing Bathtubs

I remember visiting my grandparents as a child and dreading bath time. I think it was a combination of knowing that this meant I was heading down the path to bedtime and also not wanting to stop what I was doing. They had a large free standing, white tub with claw feet. It took forever to fill it up and the warm water didn't seem to stay warm very long sitting stagnant against the cold porcelain. I may not have seen the beauty in it then, but I sure would love to have one of my own. 

Since bathroom renovations aren't in our near future, nor are they really necessary, I will just file away these beautiful photos for inspiration should I need it one day. How beautiful are these bathtubs?!

Holiday Mantles

I really enjoy having a fireplace in our home. There's something so comforting about curling up on the couch on a cool winter evening, with a soft blanket, a glass of wine and a warm fire crackling in the fireplace. The second best part of having a fireplace, is decorating the mantle. I was determined to do something different this year. In the past, I've used decorations that were passed down to me from my mom, that were used growing up. This year it was time for a change. I decided to do something simple using neutral colors. 

I can't wait to use the fireplace for the first time this year!

Lately my husband and I have been on a mission to complete little decorating projects throughout the house that we’ve I’ve been putting off. We moved into our home two years ago, which also happened to be one month before our wedding. Given the timing of everything, it took us a little longer to get settled. I’ve been told that when you’re a homeowner the projects never end, and I’m beginning to see that. However, I blame the delayed projects and procrastination on my schedule of events the past few months.

We are finally putting our focus on an extra room in our house that I suppose could be considered a “sitting” room. I can’t wait to share more details and some before and after photos once it’s complete. We’ve also been working on some finishing touches to our living room, including, indoor plants and art for the walls. Our search for something to hang in the living room inspired this post. Etsy is a good place to search for art in my opinion. I sometimes find art intimidating, but I feel less overwhelmed when searching on Etsy for some reason. The good news, I think we found something we both agree on (more to come on that). During the search, I saw so many beautiful paintings that I would love to hang out my walls, watercolors in particular.  Here are a few of my favorites.
