Weekend Recap // The Lowcountry

I had such a great weekend spending time with my family back home. Whit and I made the short drive to my parents house on Friday after work. It was nice to not have anywhere to be and just relax. And I'm not going to lie, it was also nice to have someone else cook for us too. My dad had this delicious lowcountry boil waiting on when we arrived that evening.

We stopped by for some lunch in town at my mom's deli on Saturday afternoon. The pimento cheese sandwich with strawberry preserves is a must!

We also visited Lucky Duck Distillery, the local moonshine shop owned by my brother. He had just stocked the shelves.

It's always a pleasant change going from the busy city of Charleston to the quite country where you're surrounded by nothing but fields and dirt roads. Once the weather cleared up later that afternoon, Whit and I were able to take the four-wheeler out to explore.

It wasn't long until the dark clouds started rolling in again.

We got a little wet, but it was totally worth it when this huge rainbow appeared.

Most of our time was spent outdoors which was fine by me since we finally had some warmer weather. Sunday was absolutely beautiful so mom and I took advantage and went kayaking. Once I got past the panic of seeing an alligator it was actually enjoyable. Here are a few scenes from the river.

Kayaking down this gorgeous river with my mom was worth every bit of soreness that I now feel in my arms!
