30 Week Pregnancy Update

Wow! Where has the time gone? It's crazy to think that I'm already at 30 weeks. This pregnancy seems like it has gone by so fast. Hopefully I will hold out for another 10 weeks because I still have several things to do! However, I'm feeling a lot better about some of the progress that's been made lately. Here's a little update.

How far along? 30 weeks and 2 days.

Baby’s size: This week baby Smith is the size of a large cabbage.

Weight gain: 14.6 pounds

Energy: Some days I'm full of it and others not as much.

Appetite: Breakfast and coffee are the things that get me out of bed. Lunch, I've been enjoying. Dinner...not so much. I know I've said this before but it's getting worse. There is less and less room in my stomach for food these days, especially by the time dinner rolls around. Don't get me wrong, I'm still eating plenty but I feel like I may explode afterwards.

Workouts: I'm may not be as quick and flexible as I once was, but that's not holding me back from making it to the gym. I'm still going about four to five days a week, with the occasional stroll outside when the weather is nice. However, this week I've had events after work every night and have only made it once. I took a barre class on Monday and decided I would like to make an effort to go to more of them plus cardio these next few weeks. I'm trying to do everything I can to maintain the strength of my muscles.

Sleep: This week sleep has not gone so well for me. I think part of is due to the work conference I attended and the stress that came along with it. But I'm also afraid that this is just the beginning of restless and uncomfortable nights due to my growing belly and frequent trips to the bathroom.

Movement: His movements are starting to feel different again. I have frequent tightening around my belly button area. It's not so much of a kick but more like it's stretching. I plan to ask my doctor about this when I go for my appointment next week. He seems to so wiggly and move the most at night. I hope that's not an indication of the sleeping habits he will have after he's born.

Wardrobe: I have tried on more dresses these past two weeks than I probably have all year! I've been trying to find a dress to wear in my maternity photos that are scheduled for next weekend and it has been such a struggle. I don't think "petite maternity" clothes are a thing. I've tried on one million non-maternity dresses but I struggle because when I go up a size to fit my belly, then the dresses are too large up top. It has been super frustrating to say the least.

Shopping for baby: The only purchases I've made lately are for the nursery. But I've gotten a few sweet things from friends for the little guy. A colleague of mine from LA was in town for our work conference this week and brought these two sweet little gifts!

Nursery Updates: I have a great story to share regarding the nursery progress. I was having a terrible week the other day and my poor mom got to hear all about it over the phone one morning while I was on the way to work. She was planning to come to my house that afternoon to pick up the extra guest bed that we no longer have room for. The extra bed has been in the room that we were planning to turn into the nursery. We hadn't made progress on converting the room because we still needed to get rid of furniture. She and my brother's girlfriend came to our house to pick up the bed and a few other things while I was at work. When I got home that evening I walked in the door and they were still at my house. I was escorted to the room that we are turning into the nursery and my mouth dropped when I walked in. They had set up the whole room! All of the old guest room furniture had been moved out, the crib was set up and everything was in place! This was the best surprise to come home to. I am so thankful for all of their help. Now I get to focus on the fun stuff!

The crib bedding came in last weekend and I love it! I bought this crib bumper in white, these sheets and this crib skirt. I'll share some pictures soon once I get everything all steamed and put together. I also sent off a painting to get custom framed that I can't wait to get back. I plan to pick up a few other things this weekend. I would love to get a set of these seagrass baskets to put blankets and toys in. More to come!

Doctor's Visits: I'm headed back next week for another two week checkup.
