36 Week Pregnancy Update

It's June 1st, which means it's baby birth month! I can't believe how fast the time has gone by. Let me preface this bump-date by saying how fortunate I've been throughout my pregnancy. I've managed to make it eight months without any complaints or issues that many women have to deal with, and for that I am so thankful! Things may be starting to get uncomfortable now, but I've been lucky. The updates below are just me keeping it real. On another note, I shared my maternity photos in this post, in case you missed it. I also have an awesome photoshoot giveaway that you can read more about and enter here

How far along? 36 weeks and 2 days.

Baby’s size: This week baby Smith is the size of romaine lettuce.

Weight gain: 20 lbs

Baby Name: I haven't addressed this in any of my updates because to be honest, it's been a tough topic in the Smith household. Whit and I could not come to an agreement on names for the longest time. After several disagreements, we decided to not talk about it for a few months. Being that I'm now eight months pregnant, we figured it was time to bring it up again. I'm happy to say that we've narrowed it down to two names and have decided that we will make our decision once he is born and we get to see him. Stay tuned!

Baby moon: We recently went to Destin, FL for our babymoon and had the best time! I'm so happy that we ended up taking this last trip as a family of two. It was nice to spend quality time together and actually relax. Stay tuned for a full recap of our trip, coming soon! In the meantime, you can view the highlights on Instagram. How gorgeous is this view?!

Energy & How I'm Feeling: I'm ready to relax by the time I get home from work but feel pretty good in the mornings. I've been trying to use what energy I do have to get out and make the most of the time I have left by spending it with friends and my hubby.
Appetite: It will be nice when my appetite returns to normal. For someone like me who loves food, not being able to enjoy it like I used to doesn't make dining as fun. Small portions are key. I'm also learning all sorts of new recipes for mocktails. This mango daiquiri was the perfect refresher to sip on at the beach.
Workouts: N/A Still being lazy, per the Dr.'s orders. No gym, no walking. I've been trying to make the most of my free time after work by being productive around the house. It's kind of a blessing in disguise because I have a lot left to do before this little one arrives.

Sleep: I've hit the stage of being uncomfortable. My soft, comfy bed calls my name, but once I'm in it, I can't seem to get situated in a position that doesn't feel like I'm carrying a bowling ball in my belly. Every pain that I feel during the night, immediately wakes me up and I panic wondering if I'm going into labor.

Aches & Pains: I've developed both of these recently. Back pain sets in during the afternoon hours. Then there are some sharp stabbing pains that happen randomly throughout the day.

Movement: He's continuing to wiggle around a lot and also has the hiccups at least once a day. In my last ultra sound, we could see that he has turned head down, which is good news. If you flip through to the last clip in this highlight reel, you can see the video I just took the other day of him moving around.

Wardrobe: I've now started purchasing clothes that have buttons, for breast feeding purposes, post baby. The one I'm wearing in the first photo in this post is one of them. I've also noticed I have a blue and white stripe problem (note photo below). Everything I've purchased lately falls into that category. What can I say, blue is on my brain.

Nursery Updates: Things are are coming together and I'm so thrilled! We finally found a rug we like (after ordering four). We also found some artwork to go above the crib. Now I just need to wash his little clothes and put them away along with a few other things we received as gifts.  We also have to hang a few other things on the wall. I haven't shared any photos yet because I've been trying to wait on it all to be put together. Maybe I'll give a sneak peak this weekend. In the meantime, here is a look at our crib. I bought these sheets, this crib skirt and this bumper, all from Serena and Lily

Doctor's Visits: I'm still going twice per week. I have a ultra sound growth check today and am praying that he has gained some weight. The results should tell us whether or not we have to induce. Stay tuned for updates!
