Holiday Cookie Roundup

The Christmas countdown is officially on, which means decorating, shopping, baking and holiday parties are in full swing.  One of the traditions that my family and I have is baking cookies a few days before Christmas. Mom and I spend hours in the kitchen baking our usual treats, most of which we give away. Every year I like to add to the list of recipes and every year mom tries to persuade me not to. She ends up being the one to finish the cooking when I get tired (which happens about half way into it). But needless to say, the tradition continues.

I was searching the web for some cookie recipes to change it up a bit from my usual menu and I came across several that looked really delicious. I know I can't add too much more to my baking list or my mom will panic, but I thought it would at least be nice to share my findings.

It was tough to narrow it down to just a few, but I did my best. Below are some of my favorite picks for best holiday cookies! Click the photos for a link to the recipes.

Snickerdoole cookies are pretty much amazing. I've never had them with cream in the middle, but I can only imagine that it makes them even better.

I love s'mores, so when I came across a recipe for s'mores cookies, I was instantly sold! I may have to slip these in my baking list this year.

If your looking for some variety outside of the realm of chocolate, these lemon ricotta cookies seem like a great idea to me. Brighten up your assortment with a little bit of citrus.

I love bananas and also think highly of chocolate, put those two together and I'm happy.  I would love to try this recipe for banana chocolate chip cookies sometime soon.

What's the holiday's without gingerbread men. My aunt use to make some of the best ones I've ever had. She would always give them to use in a cute little tin for Christmas.

A simple sugar cookie is always a good idea, but it's an even better idea if it's in the shape of a tree and made with fruit and pecans. This festive cookie is perfect for the holidays.

I love potato chips more than I love cookies, so I would be willing to combine the two and give them a try.

As if Oreos needed anything else to make them more addicting, this could be it!
